Hi guys,
I've been interested in learning the ways of straight razoring for awhile but haven't had a chance to jump in yet. My opportunity presented itself yesterday when I found out my mother in law has 2 straight razors in her possession. She has graciously allowed me to take one to learn how to use. Since I am totally new to this I would like to ask for opinions on which razor would be the ideal one to learn on. Both are beautiful, which is why I am hesitant to use either as my first razor. I would also like to get more info on these blades as my mother in law is interested to know as much about them as well.
Without further adieu, here they are:
1) JR Torrey Company "Our 136"
This belonged to my mother in laws' father. JR Torrey seem pretty common and america made and I'm guessing this would be from around 1950ish?

2) Jakob Lutters Sohne
This one has me stumped, and I cannot find any info about this. It belonged to my mother in laws' grandfather and so I would place the date to mid-late 1800's before he emigrated to Canada from Germany. It has Solingen on the blade so I know it's made in Germany. The handle is carved into a horse hoof and there is a picture of what appears to be a chicken riding a cat on it. The box it was found in has King Cutter "Boker & CO" written on it but I am not sure if this is the original box for it.

Thanks for the help!
