Tennessee Newbie
Hello all,
Just got in to straight razor shaving about six months ago, but didn't get the grip of the blade and angle right. So I went to keeping stubble and trimming it down every once in a while. Got a double-edge razor recently and loved it so much I wanted to get my straight razor out and try it again. Messed up my bevel upon trying to hone, but just bought a new one and an older one, which will both be set and honed by a pro, so I'm excited to get back into it!
Take care!

Welcome. Stick with it. It takes time but is well worth it.

Welcome.
The learning journey with straights can be long, but is enjoyable. Focus on getting the shave down before the honing. 3 1/2 years into honing and I am still learning how to get more and more out of an edge.

Hi. Welcome to Straight Razor Place, thespis2717!

Welcome. There are a few things that helped me. Skin stretching and holding are crazy important, and so is a low blade angle, and no pressure. There are other things too but those were important in my learning to shave well.
