Hello from Australia
Hi,
I am not a new member by any means, however, I would like to reintroduce myself to the forum and its members. I have restarted the learning process of straight razor use, sharpening and maintenance after using a dovo shavette for the past 6 years. I feel comfortable using a straight for shaving, and have had many of experiances with the shavette, very unforgiving bit of equipement.
Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt, I'm from Australia too and I am new. Furnished with a book about razors written by Roy Ritchie and Ron Stewart, I'm trying to ID my Grandpa's collection.
Wish me luck as I do you with your efforts. Although if I get it wrong, I won't bleed, so go gently.
Cheers Julie

Enjoy and have fun!!

About time you ditched the shavette in favor of a straight razor. You will appreciate the difference I'm sure.

Aloha!
Welcome back. I agree with you on the Shavette being "Unforgiving". I have not mastered a Shavette the way I have mastered a Straight Razor. But I keep trying. Once a week it's a Shavette shave. But I only do ONE pass with the Shavette. Second pass is with a DE. I just don't like pushing my luck with the very critical Shavette. One tiny slip of my form and it's a nick or cut.
