Sterba43 Introduction

I am new to this site and I am amazed at the information that is here! I didn't realize the number of people that use straight razors. Some of you might glean from my username that I have been around since 1943. When I was younger (my wilder days), I didn't think I would see the backside of 40! At 3/4 of a century I'm glad to the sun rise in the morning. My first shave with a straight razor was when I came across a Puma while I was stationed in the Army in Italy during the 60's. I am basically self taught from memories in the barber shop when I was a kid, only one little nick my first shave! I am still a Puma man to this day. Somewhere along the way I picked up several more, one from Turkey, a Puma Silber (German for Silver) and one here in the states, it has never been used. I will eventually sell those 2, hopefully to someone that would appreciate them. With 4 boys, not the first one would use one, in fact 2 of them don't use any razor at all! I guess that is enough for now, what I wanted as a short introduction almost turned into my life history.

Thank you for the background, I appreciate history, and a man who has a quarter century under his belt usually has some great life experience worth hearing.

I'm in Charleston, just moved here in the winter in an attempt to find a good place to raise my children, an ocean warm enough to swim in, boats, good food, and possibly some good old fashioned traditional values.

I see you were in the 101st. I started in E company 327th of the 101st in 1963. Just before the buildup in Vietnam I got transferred to a Davy Crockett unit then to Nuclear Weapons school which kept me out of Naum. I appreciate your service. BTW I had a lot of friends over the years that were 1945 vintage, it was a good year! :D

We are in Hickory Grove, population 364, just South of York, SC. Charleston is a beautiful city with a lot of history. Dang good food too!! Traditional values are good but hard to find in today's world for sure.

Your welcome, my pleasure. I felt it was my duty to serve. Just followed a family tradition so to speak. I had four uncles, from both sides of the family, who served in WWII, 3 of them made a career out of it. Myself and my three brothers served as well as at least three of my cousins. I thank every veteran I see.
