Thank you! Upon further reading sounds like round tip and ready to shave razor is a must but 5/8 will be just as good for a newb as 6/8 would be. I suppose I just won’t know what will be my preference until I try couple different sizes :)

Hi and welcome aboard. Make sure you have a unpasted strop for daily use. Good luck with your honing.
Welcome to SRP. The guys are pointing you in the right direction for sure. Keep in mind that it takes around a hundred shaves before you start to really understand what your doing in a shave. So dont just sha e with a straight once a week or it will be a long time before you get it down. You have a lot of uncomfortable sha es ahead of you. It happens to all new guys, just keep it up. Keep the preasure light or next to none and the blade spine just off your face for the angle.
Have fun and ask questions. We are here for ya.
Hi Josh,
Greetings from the UK.
:)
Welcome Josh. Enjoy your new hobby. 2 razors definitely recommended. Both honed by a pro. Then you'll have something to judge razor sharpness, much different than that required for a knife. Very glad you have joined this group of remarkable and helpful men.
Personally found the 6/8 preferable to the 5/8 because the weight felt better. But, have you found a razor yet? If not let's see if we can't get you headed to some DFS's. Welcome to the group really has become a quick home for me (I started not even a year ago) and what an amazing rabbit hole it is.
