My name's Egnis and I'm a beginner. I just ordered my first straight razor so I'm eager to learn more about
this kind of shaving art. I'm sure I'll find good support in this forum. :)
Thank you all.

Welcome. Looks like the Canadians have discovered SRP.
Ask questions and seek advice - this is a very generous group of wet shaving advocates.

Hands on with an experienced shaver is the best way to learn
Welcome to the forum. Ask all the questions you want. Post photos of your equipment.
Hi and welcome aboard.
Welcome. No shortage of members in your region. There are periodic GTA meets so keep your eyes open. They are excellent places to learn and a lot of fun.
Hello and welcome. If you have questions you can of course ask but sometimes it is just as helpful or more to do a search. There is so much information here posted over the years it's amazing. But of course we are always here to help as well. The beginner's section has a number of sticky threads that will help. As Steve has likely already told you stropping is one of the most important skills to learn to maintain your razor and make sure you have good clean shaves. Take your time and be patient. It takes time to learn and there is no substitute for experience. It will take you probably 6 months to really have a good handle on it but the learning curve is different for everyone. Of course then you will possibly trip and fall into collecting razors, brushes, hones, strops or maybe several of the aforementioned. Then if you fall hard you may hit your head on restoration. Lots of bugs to be bitten by.
Enjoy
Yes and just to clarify bouschie's comment, we'd love to see pictures of your SHAVING equipment :rofl2:
Welcome! Hope you enjoy it as much as I have, started using straight razors just over a year ago and find it a very satisfying, meditative hobby. And one with a quite friendly following as you can see in this thread and around the Internet. I'm in Toronto to and enjoy honing so wouldn't mind refreshing an edge or two for you while you're learning if you prefer to focus on shaving at first. But I might not be super quick as I enjoy a complete lack of urgency around things shaving-related, part of what I like about it.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum.
Yet another Canadian member joining up tells me we ought to reconsider the HQ location for SRP. :p
Just remember that there are no razors to be found from Montreal south the Albany New York. Dont even bother looking, its a waste of time. Welcome aboard SRP and be sure to mine the site and members for all the information that you could possibly ever want about straight blades and restorations.
Hi John, thanks :) I don't exactly, but I will post the pic when I get it.
Hi DoughBoy, thanks for the support, will do that for sure.
Thanks Bob. That will be very useful :)
