    Default Konnichiwa!

    Hey friends,

I am a newbie to wet shaving and straight razors. I bought a Ralf Aust a couple weeks back,
got some Proraso green and a Parker badger brush and now I'm hooked. I live in Yokohama,
Japan but work in Tokyo. Recently, I bought a Kanayama strop at the workshop where they
are made in Tokyo. I am hooked on Japanese razors at the moment, with a Tanifuji Maxfli-Gold
being my current favorite. I certain have a lot to learn but my first forays into the wet-shaving
world did not result in too many weepers (ATG is still a tough proposition). In any case,
    glad to meet everyone.

Welcome to the forum. Who knew shaving could be so fun, huh? Japanese razors rule, and the MaxFli Gold is also one of my favorite shavers.

Feel free to ask questions, and check out the Library and/or Search links on the main page if you feel like doing some research. Cheers!

    Welcome.

Sounds like you are off to a flying start with your initial selection of razors and strop. There are members here (myself included) who are incredibly jealous of your visit to the strop factory.

There is a lot of information here and that can be overwhelming for a new straight razor user, so ask questions. SOmeone will be by to answer even if the question has been asked before.

Thank you, I literally just Googled "Kanayama razor strop", found the address and rang the doorbell. The gentleman there was very kind. I will try to post some pictures later in another post.

    Welcome to the forum.

Yes, there is a lot of information contained in the forum but the main thing is to concentrate on getting the basics down pat. Getting the shaving, lathering and stropping techniques right is most important in the beginning. Most all soaps and shave ready razors will let you get a smooth comfortable shave if those basics are met. Enjoy your time on the forum.

Like DZEC said, we are jealous - in a good way You have a great selection of shaving hardware in Japan.
I myself have just stroped on Kanayama a few minutes ago - pure pleasure.
Do you care to share his workshop address? I've been to Tokyo twice in the past few years, but never have managed to find it

    Konichiwa!

Some of the best razors ever made came out of the land of the rising Sun. Kanoyama is also one of the best strops ever made!

    Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the Forum. I have bought many razors from Japan over the years. I hope your selection is great. You have a good start with some quality supplies.
