Hello,
I am a shavette user and I am willing to start shaving with a straight. No setup for the moment, but I think with your help it won't last long.
Blessings to all

Hello and welcome to SRP.
Enjoy your time here on the forum.

Welcome to the forum
Hi GoReds, welcome, where are you?
Welcome. Lots of great people here. Put where you live in your profile.
If you are just starting check the buy, sell, trade forum. Personally I would go with a restored or refurbished vintage round point shave ready. They would be less expensive than new so you are not out a bundle if you don't like it. Go slow as it takes time to master (3-6 months at the minimum). Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you are not in a hurry I just finished a 6/8 SPROCK ( made by Friederich ERN, Germany) round point. Just needs to be honed. It will be every reasonable when I list it in a week.
Welcome. As Leonard says keep an eye on the Buy sell trade thread. Best place to find a razor ready for shaving. Take a few minutes and check out our library. Its full of great info for a newbie plus give the rules a quick read. They are not much but its best to know. Let us know where you are or atleast a general idea. Someone may be right around the corner from ya.
Welcome to the forum. Questions are good. There are so,e subtle differences in handling between a shavette and a straight. Ask away.
Hi and welcome aboard. Coming from the shavette will make it easier. Hopefully you are already using brush and soap and you have an understanding of the how and pressure. You really just need a decent razor and a strop.
As said check the classifieds and buy with confidence knowing you will get a razor in good condition ready to shave with. You won't find folks more willing to help so dont be afraid to ask.
Yes, welcome! If you are by chance from the great state of Ohio, there are at least two fine members that will gladly offer some assistance!
Welcome aboard. Were definitely here to help you with your needs.
Welcome! Some great fellas on here that are only too willing to help out.
Check out the library, it's a wealth of information.

Ha, I just did a bit of digging.
GoReds sounds like Cincinnati. Am I right?
Welcome to the Forum! As a 5 year shavette user myself, I enjoy seeing other shavette users on the forum. I know others have already mentioned the library. Browse thru some of the old posts too. There is lots of good information here.
Oh, That was my only guess .
You're just going to have to tell us.
Depends on if he's skins or Sox"s.
It could be wings. Although most Detroit fans wouldn't say "reds" they would say "wings."
Anyway, welcome to SRP. If you've been shaving with a shavette, a straight will be an easy transition and one you will maybe not go back from. I say maybe because my son still uses both but just for the neck now since he looks like he is trying to audition for ZZ Top these days.
First thing you will want to get once you acquire a straight is a good starter strop. DON'T go spend a bunch at first because you will inevitably knick the crap out of you first one. It happens. We all do it. Once you get to where you can not cut up the strop then look for a good one. Heirloom Strop Co. makes a good one and Tony is also a member here so that's a plus. Stropping is the single most important thing you will need to learn in your transition. Most of the rest of it will be easier than going from automatic to manual transmission.
Make sure and ask questions if you are wondering about something and have fun. Ya know...we do something amazing here. We take a daily pain in the neck (pun intended) and turn it into an adventure and a cool hobby.
