Introducing self
Hello. I am a Japanese sword and knife enthusiast in Manitoba, Canada. I'm also big into natural Japanese whetstones (as well as Manitoba whetstones!). I have two Japanese kamisori razors, one of them an Iwasaki, but I've yet to hone them properly, though I have a lot of stones. I'm joining here to see if I can learn more about Japanese whetstones, and also see if I can learn to hone a razor properly. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find info on what you are looking for by using the forum search function and library section. That is not to mention the very knowledgeable members who will be alone shortly and only too happy to help. Just a quick note on straight razors and honing techniques. The western style straight razor is symmetrically ground as opposed to the Japanese kamisori style straight razor is asymmetrically ground so the honing technique is different between the two.

Welcome.
I used Glen's method to hone my Kamisori razors and it works very well.
Its said that knife sharping and razor honing are two different things. But with time you can learn to master both ways.
Glad to have ya in the group.
