My names Jeremy, and I'm so glad I found this forum! When I was younger my grandfather tried to teach me the art of the straight razor shave, through fear on my part and a lack of patience on his I never did get the hang of it. Now years later, sick of buying disposable razors and products that just don't deliver, I've decided to give it another go. All the information i've found here at the SRP, has been super helpful. Thanks!

Hi, I have been contemplating, buying a straight razor for a couple of weeks now, so after much searching for the right razor @ the right price, I bought my razor yesterday, and had my first shave today.
The whole thing went pretty much as expected, if not a little better, with only a couple of small cuts (so fine that they didn't bleed)

So I will be continuing to shave with my new razor.
I have found this site to be interesting and informative

    Default Howdy from Aggieland!

Hello everybody, I hope all is well. It's awesome to have such a good source of information for straight razor shaving! I use to go to a local barber shop as a kid and get a good ole buzz cut from the neighborhood barbers "Doc" and Doyle. On occasion they would treat me to straight razor shave to clean up behind the ears and neck, made me feel special and smooth. Twenty or so years later and many a mach 3 shaves I began to dislike shaving altogether. Then it hit me...buy a straight razor and give it a go. Boy am I glad I took that step, thanks to the information present here I went straight from a crappy mach whatever shave to SMOOTH str8 shaving. Nice. Now into my fourth shave with only one nick under my belt and going ATG on the checks and XTG under my neck with relatively little irritation and no razor burn! Even with crappy can shaving gel! Thanks for the wealth of information and forgotten memories! The funny part is that i thought I was getting a close shave previously! In life you never stop learning!

    Talking Dane from AZ

Finally, I can say hello everybody! Like many others, I've been just sort of hovering around SRP for a while now, and I decided to register. I've never owned, nor shaved with a straight razor, but I've always been interested in it since I started shaving, so this site is amazing to me as far as information goes. I collect old things (mostly pre-korea "militaria" as ebay would put it), so I love SR's. Well I think I'm terrible at introductions, so I guess thats it!

    Default Hello

I have been so happy to discover straight razor shaving. I had terrible problems with breakouts, skin rash, in-grown hairs etc. I would pay big money for Mach 5 and that didn't even really help. I asked my barber if maybe a strait razor would help. He said "definitely". He was right. I started shaving with the straight razor, a cheapo with replaceable blades. It was a wobbly extra cheap piece, I survived many nasty nicks and gouges. But it was worth it to get the close shave and to see my skin clear up. I became curious about the high end razors and if they were worth the investment. I stumbled on to this site and was very impressed to see the level of enthusiasm and decided to learn all I can. I just ordered 2 new Dovo's a stainless Renaissance and a Red Bismark. Bought a vintage strop. Now I just need to figure out the best stones for honing and I'm on my way. Looking forward to taking my shaving to the next level. Thanks to all who contribute here. So many questions were answered here in just one day of poking around. I posted a couple questions and had at least a dozen helpful replies within the first 12 hours! Truly amazing. This site is a winner.

Hey guys. I got interested in antique razors after a recent trip to an antique mall. found a beautiful Rolls Razor. had the stone and the strop, and virtually rust free. sharpened up very nice, with a very smooth action.
I look forward to learning more here.
