Hi from London, Ontario
Hello all,
I've been checking out this site for a few weeks now, and it seems like you're all a great group of knowledgeable, friendly students and teachers of the fine Art of Shaving.
I've owned a 5/8 Dovo straight for about 6 years now and I think I'm finally ready to start using it... :) Unfortunately, when I first got it I had no idea what I was doing and I hacked my face up badly enough the first few tries to give myself nightmares about ever taking the razor out of the box again :medvl: Fortunately though my interest in getting the "Perfect Shave" has resurfaced, and I've found enough information to let me know what I'd been doing wrong before (i.e. trying to shave with an out-the-box, unhoned, dull razor using way too much pressure).
Anyways, I bought one of those cheap straights with the replaceable blade feature to learn on and it's been working out perfectly so far. My face has never been cleaner, and I plan on sending my old Dovo off for it's first honing by a professional by the end of the month.
I look forward to being a member here.
Cheers,
Kenny

Hey Kenny!
If you've been shaving with a replaceable blade straight, you will have all the moves down when you get a fixed blade. Enjoy!
