    Default Hello from Houston!

Hello All! I guess I'll finally quit lurking around here and start contributing what I can... Albeit so very little.

I got started with straight razors with a birthday present from a brother - a Dovo Perlex 5/8". I never knew I would become so intrigued by such a small piece of metal.

I currently received a lot of 6 razors from my grandfather, consisting two Wade and Butchers, a Wester-Stone Fraternity, a Wester Bros Anchor Brand "Manganese Steel", and two I cant seem to find much on. One has a stamp of "Antelope" with "Antelope Diamond Steel" on the blade, and the other has "Josiah Newton & Sons A.D. 1792" stamped on the show side of the tang with "Made in Germany" stamped on the rear. They are all in need of full restorations including hand grinding and new scales. Luckily, I was on the market for a new hobby!

I have tried to do some research on the two oddball razors, but can't seem to come up with anything... Maybe the gurus on this site will be able to help.

Anyways, hello to all, and I'll see you out on the boards!

    Thanks!

PS - I have pics of all the razors if they will help in identifying anything.

Weclome to the forum. The Pearlex is a very nice razor - what a gift! It sounds like your grandfather's razors are quite nice - some well known makes in there. You should have a lot of fun learning to fix them up on your own if you take a look through the workshop section on the forum, or you can find lots of great guys who do that sort of work in the member services area of the classifieds.

If you have pictures for ident/info, you could post them in the Razor's section, and if you post some with questions in the Workshop section, you should get some great input on how to get started bringing them back to top form.

I hope you enjoy the new hobby as much as I do!
