Please allow me to introduce myself...
Hi
I've been lurking around on the website and the forums for a while now and figured it would be a good time to introduce myself.
For pretty much as long as I can remember I've always had a small fascination for straight razors (not really sure where that comes from though), but haven't really given it much thought up until a few months ago.
I've always hated shaving before, it felt more like a chore and I only did it about once or twice per week before - but that has all changed now (I must confess I do miss my three day 'beard') and I've never had so much fun, nor felt so relaxed when shaving as I feel when shaving with a straight razor. So now I feel completely hooked on this.
A reason for straight razor shaving, for me that is, could be because I have quite a fascination for 'older' things and eras. More or less influenced by film noir (hence my nick), so next to my stetson I must say that the straight razors are amongst my best investments so far. However, one small problem that I've encountered is that there aren't many options where to buy straight razors and all the things to go with it, here in Sweden. However, lucky as I am, there's actually a barber shop that has quite a lot of items for straight razor shaving in my hometown. Other than that, I've just found one other online store here in Sweden.
So with all that said, I shall wish you all a very pleasant evening or day, depending on which timezone you're in.
//Stefan.

Welcome to SRP! It sounds like you're off to a good start!
What razor(s) do you have? I'm guessing you have all the other bits like a strop, soap and a brush?
If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask! There is also a great resource in the SRP Wiki (link at the top of the page), which has alot of answers to the common questions asked.
Once again, welcome and good luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome
My first razor was a Dovo Ebenholz (Silver steel) and the second one I bought is marked '107 Garanti Solingen', mainly bought that one for the scales that I fell instantly in love with.
As regarding the other things, I've currently got two strops (don't ask me why I bought the second one, cause it's utter crap), a nice and heavy EJ badger brush and shaving cream from Art of Shaving. So I'm all set. Contemplating getting pre-shave oil... if it makes any difference? I've found that the chin in particular is quite annoying to shave - but then again, it's probably just due to lack of technique from my part there.
So far it's coming along smoothly.
