Hello from Taiwan
I'm a Canadian expatriate living in Taiwan. I first heard about SRP a few months ago from seeing cannonfodder's lathe work on Home-Barista.com. I checked this site out, but felt it was a little out of my price range to get into a straight razor. Then I found a relatively inexpensive, made-in-Japan straight razor with disposable blades. I have absolutely no idea how well this kind of setup will work, but it's enough to at least get me curious again and register an account here.
I currently shave with a Gillette Mach 3 razor and buy their Mach 3 Turbo blades. I also use their shaving gel and aftershave as I'm pretty limited in the products that I can buy here (Taiwanese men not having much to shave).
My hobbies include coffee and espresso--hence me being a member of Home-Barista.com--and reading. In most things I tend towards the manual approach--my coffee equipment consists of hand grinders, French presses, and a lever espresso machine--but I do prefer ebooks to paper books.
Now I'm off to read some of the stickies and FAQs.

Welcome to SRP. I am a zassenhaus grinder man every morning for many years now. Tom, whose screen name is jendeindustries, lives in Taiwan and is a good guy. You might drop him a PM (personal message) and see if you can get with him on some of your questions. He is a hone guy too. :gl:

Ahoy from Philadelphia metro! Get a straight razor. If it's cost you're worried about, you can make your SR money back in 3-4 packages of mach 3 cartridges.
But good luck sticking with just one straight razor....
