    Default Hi!

Noobie here from York, PA. Began shaving with a Feather 'safety straight razor. Looking forward to moving up to a 'real' straight razor!

    Default Hi!

    Hello, Prrfan:

Welcome to SRP. We are delighted to have you.

I see you have already started with the Feather. Congratulations. Please look around the SRP site, especially in the Wiki, for mounds of information on the art and craft of straight razor shaving.

If you don't find the answer there, please post it and you will have your answer in a snap.

Ah, yes: next a real straight razor. What pleasure.

    Regards,

    Obie

    Default Welcome, Patrick

I never shaved with the feather myself, but I hope you enjoy the switch.

The Feather that I bought is actually designed for shaving the nape from what I understand. Here is a link to the one I bought:

    Feather Straight Razor

The only thing that I can say about it, is that it does seem rather "light" and from what I am reading the weight of the razor is important. however, I thought it was a good "starter". I am finding the whole thing is addicting though!

Welcome to SRP Patrick. I haven't shaved with one of those but I hear they are scary sharp. My guess is once you shave with a real shave ready straight razor you'll like it better.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There is a nice quality to a blade with weight, Pat, at least for me. Everyone finds their own preferences and you'll find yours too. Enjoy the ride!
