Hello from LV, NM
OK, I've been a member for about a month and have posted a couple of new threads but I realized I've not formally introduced myself here and I thought I would do so.
My name is Jonathan and I've been straight razor shaving for about a month. :) I had my first straight razor shave at a Barbershop a few years ago and had been thinking/talking about getting one ever since.
I finally purchased a shave kit from SRD at the end of December 09 and have since totally changed my outlook on shaving. I used to hate it with a passion but I now look forward to it. I have SSAD already too LOL! Anyways, I wanted to say hello and that I'm glad I found this awesome community. I've already had lots of help from members here. Nice to meet you all!
On a side note: I have been looking for another razor that way I have one shave ready for when I need to send my DOVO back to SRD for my rehone. I recently looked around an antique shop here in the small town in New Mexico I live in and came across a razor with slightly warped celluloid scales, a good condition edge, and the blade has only a slight tarnish with no pitting/rust. I also didn't see any hone wear on it. It's selling for $30 and says Galviston Supply Co. on the tang. It's not on the list of good or bad blades in the Wiki though so I thought I'd ask on it. If possible and you all think it a good idea, I'll try and get some pictures of it to post. Any suggestions/initial thoughts though?
Thanks!

Welocome, Jonathan
I haven't heard of the Galviston myself, but there are many acceptable brands to be had.

Welcome.
I've been through your town. I seem to recall a multiple hanging? Wild and wooly place during the late 1800s.
The razor was only distributed by Galviston Supply, more than likely made in Germany.
