Hello from Canada... the cold part!

Hello everyone,

Been interested in straight shaving for some time now and finally just decided to take the plunge. Got all the necessary items through lots of research (been lurking this forum for a while).

Definitely going to have lots of questions along the way.

Oh, I am from Manitoba, Canada. I am in the finance industry, mainly analytical side.

If I may offer some advice: Take your time. Pay attention to your preparation. Keep the razor pressure light. Be methodical about your shave. For now, focus on your skill more than trying to get a BBS. And, oh, yes, relish the journey toward great shaves in the future.

Thanks Obie, definitely stropping seems to be the biggest worry at this point.

Welcome aboard. Best advice I can offer is to poke through the wiki and read as much as you can (same stage I'm at).

There are a few experienced members in alberta as well as ontario, though only a couple sources for supplies up here. I don't know how many vids I've watched in the last couple months.

Even with the stropping, take your time and practice. I used an old knife we had around the house initially. Also, several good videos are available for you to study. You're on your way.
