Thanked: 0Hello from central Florida
Hello all, this is Ian in Florida.
Out of curiosity, I looked into straight razor shaving recently, and decided to give it a try.
One of my better life choices lately.
Tried my first shave, and cursed the man who sold me a dull cruel blade.
Came to this site, read up a bit.
Shaved again, cursed myself for putting a sharp razor to my face the first time without knowing what I was doing.
The second shave was the start of something beautiful. I keep reaching up and touching my face. All the elements, from the cream, to the aftershave, to the brush, have left me in a good mood all day.
Thanks straightrazorplace!

Welcome to SRP Ian.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 6Welcome, Ian!
The next wise life choice you might consider making is getting out of Orlando...or maybe Florida all together!
I was born & raised in the Tampa Bay area, and have spent some time in and around Orlando. The entire area soon to be known as "Orlampa" is a nightmare, in my opinion.
Anyhow, just had to throw that in there.
Again, welcome.

ijones,
You're quite welcome--and welcome to SRP...
If you're looking for information to enhance your str8 razor shaving experience, then you've certainly come to right place. In addition to its numerous forums wher SRP members are willing to offer their own hard earned shaving advice , there is a wiki which is chock-full of information about razors, honing, stropping, even taking professional looking photos of your str8 razor(s).
I hope that your experience here at SRP will be as enjoyable as mine has. It is a great place, with great people.
Again, welcome aboard--and smooth shaving."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanked: 0KingOfBreifne,
I have traveled the world (southern Japan, and Asheville, NC are my current favorites), but as long as the parents are here, I keep coming back.

Thanked: 0mrmaroon,
I purchased a Dovo, half hollow, 5/8 straight razor. I like owning things with a little history, so as soon as I can figure out what makes a good straight razor, I'll be looking for something as vintage(yet still functional) as possible.
