Decided to join up here to ask a few questions as I've just ordered my first straight razor. I've always used a Gillette Mach 3 razor to shave and never really cared for it. Decided to get a moderately nice electric shaver recently and ended up with a crappier shave and a nice rash. That was the last straw.
After doing a bit of reading a research, I stumbled upon safety razors and straight razors. Immediate appeal for me. I'd much rather invest a bit of money up front for some proper 'tools' and learn a useful skill than have to keep throwing money at disposable razors and have it be a chore.
Plus I'm so cheap I never bought the damn replacement heads anyway.
