Thanks Stubear. I'm looking into SRD right now and looking at "Best Quality" DOVO right now. I'll definately look at a good kit as well :)

Any recommended kits?
Check out the kits (razor, strop, etc.) at the vendors previously mentioned such as Vintage Blades and Straight Razor Designs. At minimum, I would opt for a razor and strop set. My choice would be a lower cost Dovo Best Quality or Dovo Special and a 3" strop for starters.
You ought to be able to get a decent brush and soap or non-aerosol shaving cream at your local drugstore. If not, then order them online too.
A small cereal or dessert bowl or large coffee mug purchased from a local discount store could serve as your first shaving mug or bowl.
Just my 2 cents.
Take care--and smooth shaving.
Hi Dave,
Where are you in Alberta? There's a local shop here in
Calgary that should have what you need to get started:
Rasage Poulin
They carry Thiers-Issard razors, so if you have your heart
set on a DOVO the Canadian retailer you want would be:
Fendrihan
If you're in the Calgary area and need some honing done
or are interested in some tips to get started let me know!
Regards and :gl:,
