If you havent already, check the Wiki and other articles linked in my sig line below as they will really help you on your way.
You're going about thing the right way though, by reading around the forum and seeing whats what. Thats how I started, and having that information in the back of my mind really made the transition to straight razors much easier.
Check out the Vendors Corner as well, as there are many great vendors there selling all the kit you need. We also have a classifieds where you'll find some great kit.
