Yet another new guy.
Let me start by thanking all contributors. Not yet bought a straight, but after looking at a fraction of the information here, I had the closest and most comfortable safety shave ever. Nothing like a straight but not bad at all.
I have decided to take the advice list here and save up and search for MY straight razon and not just buy whatever I can find.
Looking for any other wisdom and suggestions for a thick tough beard that grows in various directions.
Also I was wondering about replacable blade straight (worth buying).
Thanks
James

Welcome to SRP James. The replaceable blade straights are very sharp, if you get a good brand, and will work well but they are not a true straight razor in feel and comfort. Not very forgiving. If you get a true straight razor the important thing is to get one that is shave ready. IOW, honed by a pro.
You can get a new razor from the vendors ads you see in the sidebars or a used one in the SRP classifieds. You'll need a strop as well and one of the vendor's combo kits with a razor and strop is not a bad deal. See my sig link below for the SRP Wiki and check out the beginner's guide for more specific info. :gl:
