I'm researching straight razors before I buy one and I was wondering if you could use straight razors on sensitive skin? I get razor burn when using a safety razor and i'm wondering if it will be worse when using a straight razor

Welcome to SRP. There's a fairly good chance that you'll experience razor burn when learning to use a straight razor. In fact, I'd bet a lot on it. However, once you master the techniques, and get proficient at maintaining your razor(s), I would expect that you would be able to avoid irritation.
I think it's a journey worth undertaking, but ultimately that's going to be up to you.
Welcome, again.
Kind regards,
Paul
Thanks much for the info I was also wondering if there is any vendors in the uk or is international shipping not much of a problem. I noticed for one vendor the international shipping for a strop alone was about $14.00
Welcome... have fun
I really don't know a lot about the vendors in the UK, but I know there are some. But, think of it this way, $14 is only roughly £9... That's not too bad. If you buy from the US, I'd recommend bundling your purchases as much as possible to spread the shipping dollars over many different items.
Welcome again, and enjoy!
Welcome from another UK member.
There are UK retailers The Strop Shop I have used and recommend without reservation and I have heard very good things about The Invisible Edge but have not used them myself, yet.
As well as the razor, preparation and post shave products have bearing on whether I experience razor burn. If you have not looked into that aspect you should while still using a safety razor IMHO.
Well it seems all I need to do now is buy everything. And I'll try and learn practically. The main thing I want to know now is what are a few cheap but still high quality razor brands?
+1 for the DOVO Best Quality, thats a great little razor. My first razor was a DOVO Black Star and its still amongstmy best shavers..!
Theres a gathering up in London this Saturday and there will be a whole load of different razors, strops, hones, soaps and everything else there so you can try a few things out and see what you like. If you can make it here are the details! It would be great to see you there and I'm sure we can get you up and running pretty quickly! You'll also have the chance to buy all the kit you need on the day if you'd like to! :)
Welcome to the site and have fun!
