    Welcome! I think you will find that, while straight shaving is quite different than DE shaving, some of the skills and experience you gained will cross over.

    You definietly want to get your razor honed. Check out the classifieds for a honemeister near you and send it off to get properly sharpened.

    Welcome to SRP. Make sure to invest in a strop as well. Check the classifieds here or some of the vendors to find something that fits the bill. Read the info in the Wiki and post questions as they arise.

    I have an acquaintance there, a Mrs. Debbie Tapp. She's a German Shepherd breeder & very knowledgeable & passionate about the care and breeding of the GSD.

    Welcome to the forum and yes, there are some real good folks here.

    A word of advice: Next time you buy a razor off the bay, make sure you have clear pictures of the entire blade. I agree that more than likely the blade will not be shave ready. Look in the classified's and you will find someone to send it to have it honed.
