I have been shaving with a DE and using a shave brush for 8 months.
For me cheap wizamet DE is better than MACH3 and I save a lot of money, but i think that straights are better .
I have wapienica razor and it need honing. I know that the best choice is bought shave ready razor, but actually i don't have enough money and i want try honing, stropping and shaving (I have also 12k stone and leather for d.i.y. strop).
This site is great and members greater!, I spend many hours reading before registration.

i don't think you would go father with your 12k on honing your razor.
It will be better ship your razor to someone for honing.
i am sure we have srp members close to you and will help you out (as far you do have money issues) to sharpen your blade free.
if you cannot get help and are willing to send your razor to USA i would be gladly check it out make it ready and ship back to you(sorry you have to pay shipping fees back to you.
