    Default Thanks to all.

Hi All, I'm a 34 yr old new to straight razor shaving in Bristol, England. (previously gilette sensor excel, never went for the Mach 3) I tried for a few days with a Dovo shavette, and found that quite satisfying although cut myself a few times. On reading several posts here I bought a couple of razors from Invisible Edge, one reconditioned vintage Flatters & Garnett and the other a Dovo made "classic" made specially for Invisible Edge. Steve at IE was very helpful, and my first shave with each blade has been interesting, instructive, slow, and lots of fun. I've gone to work each day with a huge smile feeling like I've cheated death and serious injury, and more than anything I just enjoy shaving again. I'm sure I'll be asking all you wiser men all about stropping and pasting and honing when I get to it, I'm sure it won't be long before I've damagedmy first blade and have to send them back for a professional re-honing.....I just wanted to say hello and a generic thanks to everyone who has posted on all the forums, your combined expertise and experience has already been a very useful guide for me.

Hello Tommi and welcome to SRP. I hope you get the feel of your razors in quick time without injury to you or your blades...Nicks (on you) not counted, we all get them occassionally.

    Mick

    Hi Tommi,

Welcome to SRP. Steve in IE is a good guy. In saying that from what I've read on here all of the vendors that contribute here are the same.

I started with a shavette myself and have found that I got the more serious nicks from it than any of the straights that I have.

    Enjoy the madness.

    Stuart.

    Thumbs up

    Moikka,
    ja tervetuloa.

This is awesome place. This is the Source. Everything what I know about the razors I have learned from here. Here are very helpful fellows, just ask.

You should go to the SPR Wiki and spend a little time on there. There are many good articles what I have printed and read with time.

    Tommi,

Welcome and hello from Hastings !!

My poor Wapi went back to Mr Dempster four (4) times in the first seven weeks due to various disasters I inflicted on the edge !!

Luckily that phase doesn't last long

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

    Kiitti Mikko. Kiva nähdä Suomalaisia!

Although I've learned a lot by just doing, and a bit of slicing and cutting the wrong places (left hand included), I'm getting the hang of it. The next steps will be stropping with paste, and finally learning how to get a smooth shave around the chin and under the left jaw near my ear....

I'm sure the Wiki will be very, very helpful in all of that!
