Greetings!
I've got my first straightrazor yesterday from my uncle. He said the blade was his granddad's and it's unused. It's a Kron-Punkt Solingen blade.
I always had the interest on the issue, now with the blade I went to the place where they sell barber equipment in Istanbul. Sadly, even the barber suppliers don't have any honing equipment or strops, only one had a few vintage straight razors that's all.
So I went to the place where they sell sharpening equipment yet again they only sell stuff for machine use. But I managed to find some Candia stone which is 1200 grit. I sharpened my razor and shaved after well moisturising my face. However the result was pain and blood :) I guess it wasn't sharp enough. I also used a good leather belt as a strop but still wasn't enough. So now I'm looking for an 8000 grit sharpening stone and actually liked the experience. I'll carry on using the disposable razor one and get back to my straightrazor as soon as I find that high grid stone.
That covers my story.
All the best,
