    Default Hello my name is...

    Paul. I'm from Minnesota, and I got my first straight razor for Christmas.
    It's a Thiers Issard with a black plastic handle.
    I got a little excited and tried to do my whole face on my first go.
    I don't think I've been this nicked up in a very long time.
    You've have some great guides here that came in very handy.

    Hi Paul,
    Welcome to SRP! Take your time, read the Wikis and go slowly.

    First question is do you know if the razor has been honed?

    Then, did you stretch the skin?

    Finally, did you do a proper pre-shave routine?

    If you don't absolutley know the answers to these questions, more time in the wikis and asking questions here is in order! Just take it slowly (most start with cheeks only) - you'll get the hang of it, and never look back!

    Hi Paul. Welcome to SRP!

    A few members are working on putting together a MN meet in the near future. If you can make it, it would be a great way to meet some people, see some interesting razors and hones, and learn a lot about the art.

    There's quite a few Twin Cities people here now! As has been already mentioned there's a get together coming up, those are great and I always learn something new at those.

    Thank you for the warm welcome.
    The razor was honed, I just missed the next two steps.
    I will chalk that up to excitement.

    Maybe sometime in the future i will make it to a Minnesota gathering after school calms down and hanging around here a bit.
