Newbie to Straight razor shaving.....
Greetings everyone. I just started straight razor shaving and although a bit nicked and red (razor burn in the neck area), I'm very excited about taking this "art of shaving" up as a way to shave. I'm reading through the threads and learning from it.:)

Thanks everyone. It's awesome and my second shave was much better - less nicks and no razor burn this round. I'm hitting the wiki's right now. I feel like a real man!

Thanks for the support and words of encouragement. My logical side tells me that I should start on just a couple of areas then advance to the whole face/neck, but......I want to get comfortable as quickly as possible so I do the whole shave. I find that I have one spot on my neck that is "wild" in terms of shaving that area. Not sure if it's due to the weaker hand or the angle of the hair growth being so whacky or the curve line of that spot or all of it. Nevertheless, I ended up doing the best I could then used a "mach III" to clean up that area for now. I love it (straight razor) because it forces me to really pay attention, go slow, and take time out to shave. I'm getting better and yet, have a ways to go.
