Hello from BC, Canada
Hi all, been reading & lurking around for a while & finally jumped in. My first intro to straight shaving was about 6 month ago with a Dovo Shavette. My father originally bought it at a historical tourist tow (Barkerville for you western Canadians). He shaved it with it once & hacked himself up pretty good & then gave it to me for a try. Surprisingly it went fairly well, no major blood, but yes there was some. Did that for a couple of month & told my wife to buy me a Hart Steel SR for Christmas & she did. Got the standard Hart with Black scales & a Mountain Mike strop. To my surprise, a real SR is much more comfortable than the shavette, more forgiving. Stropping has had a little learning curve. Nicked up the strop a bit & had to glue one small slice, nothing too serious & now feel much more comfortable stropping. Already learned a lot from the Wiki & hope to learn more from the old pros here.

Welcome to SRP. Glad you have decided to join our swelling ranks. I hacked my face up pretty good using the shavette. The real thing is so much more forgiving. I still nic my strop from time to time, happens to us all.
Happy shaving. I'm overdue for one come to think of it.
