Hello from North Central Washington State.
Greeting's to all. I have watched most of the vid's on SRS
at least twice now. So I have been diligently gathering up the necessary
tools of the trade. First stop was Straight Razor Designs For a Dovo 6/8 special. Professionally sharpened. Thank-You Lynn & Don. Illinois strop,
My fathers old scuttle, Soap, Brush, And yes even the old Pinaud Lilac Vegetal . Dad use after every shave. When I was a kid I would tell him that was some nasty stuff. Soooo here goes....

Hello, hogryder:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
That you have done your research speaks well of you. Now you have the equipment to start honing your lather-making and shaving skills.
Your father's old scuttle is priceless to you, I am sure, and the Dovo 6/8" "Special" is a sweet razor. Congratulations. If there is anything your fellow SRP members can do to help, please ask.
We're delighted you have joined us.
Regards,
Obie

First Shave
Thank-you all for your comments to the post.
Well I am pleased to report the first shave went very well indeed.
I started with just one side of the face. Lot's of lather & wiskers down the drain. No nicks or cuts! A little bit of razor burn, But not bad. I will try to lighten up just a little next time. Finished off with my Gillette. Held a good angle, nice and steady. I just love the sound of useing the str8.
Stroping b-4 and after use seems 2 b going well.

Hogrydr,
Congrats on the first shave and welcome to SRP. The sound of a straight doing it's job is one of the best sounds. When I first started, my 6 years old daughter came into the bathroom and said "Cool dad, I can hear the sound of it cutting your whiskers!"
Enjoy! Let us know if you have any questions.
