    Smile New from Bordeaux France

    Hi everyone,
First, sorry for my english wich is a pure nightmare ...
I'm a knife addict, every kind of, straight, folders, carbon steel, stainless, customs, industrials. My bank is often upset by this freudian deviance...
Anyway, recently i discovered the world of straightrazor, and by the way its power of addiction... I crossed the rubicon, threw my Mach4 something away, got a basic brand new Dovo, soap, strop, puma paste.
The first shaving was... fantastic, even if i have to progress a lot, i had pleasure to do, and was not so tomato-like.
In France, the starightrazor shaving is going to move thanks to the young generation (i'm not...). We have one forum : the "3C "for Coupe Chou Club, coupe chou is the usual name of straightrazor, which means " Gabbage cutter ".... !
I read many interesting informations on your site, and decided to register to progress more and more.

    Hi and welcome to SRP

You've really entered into fine site. Here's lots of info about straight razors.
As a knife addict you are probably familiar with honing. That helps when honing straight razors, but remember that it is little different as well. With straight razors you have to bring the idea of sharpness into whole new levels.

You're wright, my experiences with different types of steel, grinds of my knives convinces me to stay very humble. The only thing i know, is that i own some of stones needed in the process, except a 12000... Far is a new lewel.
