Thanked: 0Howdy
Hey All,
I've been skirting the edges of the world of straight razors for the last year or so, and I finally got a razor a few months ago. I haven't had time to practice using it yet, but with the off season quickly approaching, I'm hoping to be able to dive into it soon. Definitely looking for any advice or tips that you all might have.
Quick bit about me - I live in Teton Valley, ID and work as an outdoor educator/ski patroller/EMT. Looking to make a move down to Boulder for the summer, and on to new places after that.

Welcome!
You're in the right place to get started, that's for sure...!
Check out the wiki and other articles linked in my sig line, they'll really help. Also have a read of the sticky'd threads in the beginners forums, the stropping and soaps forums. Theres loads of great info there too..!
The main thing is to start with a shave ready razor, a decent strop and some good quality soap. You'll also need a brush, but a boar or synthetic will work fine here. You can get all this kit relatively cheaply as well! Check out the beginners kits from straight razor designs (SRD) as they are really excellent.
Other than that, make yourself at home and enjoy!
