Complete newbie, but not lacking enthusiasm!

Hi,

Yet another new guy here, completely new to straights - haven't bought my first one yet!
I'm sure you see me around asking loads of questions in the various topics.

I've come to be here by being given a straight razor type thing by a relation, and trying (with mixed success) to shave with it! While liking the closeness of the end result, the realisation that it really isn't as sharp as it could be, and that there are far better option available has driven me here.

Perhaps you can help me identify it anyway, out of interest - see below

Like above, the WIKI has excellent information; so do the "stickies" at the top of each sub-forum.

If you're looking for a good starter razors, may I suggest a wander over to the classifieds section. There are a number of different blades to choose from, and most of them will arrive at your doorstep shave ready.

You'll find loads of info as to how to "LEARN" to shave on this site, with what looks to me to be Wilkinsons version of the Shavette. These disposable blade straights are a little different to use than the regular straight but you should still bet able to get help here at SRP.
Now you say that it "isn't as sharp as could be" which is often the case after the first few shaves but, and I'm assuming that the blades are fresh, the most likely reason for this will be your technique.
