Well I've acquired a brush, already have soap/stuff that my skin appears to like (when using a soulless cartridge contraption at least) and might have a fitting strop arranged as well (will post more details when/if that pans out) so looks like it's time to get one properly sharpened!
Welcome to the SRP.
What soap, Mick?... If you don't mind my inquiry.
Proraso, myself. Only soap I've really used, but works and feels great. Once I get a stable collection of razors, I'll start venturing into different soaps.
Mind? Not at all. I've found a product called Trishave anti-rash shave creme. It's not remotely "traditional" but my skin seems to like it.
Bear in mind this is what I use normally but I have NOT tried it with a straight razor as yet, so it may still prove sub optimal.
Welcome to SRP!
Ive recently bought a Platypus as well. Would love to hear how yours turned out after restoration.
It's in need of a little attention again after acquiring a tiny nick in the edge somewhere along the line. It's barely visible but enough to cause a rough shave. I found the blade a little thin for my liking and when shaving it sounded like dragging a knife across fresh toast, but that could just be my coarse beard. It does feel very light in the hand though and I have no doubt would suit some guys very nicely. I've just grown fonder of heavier Sheffield blades.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with the razors!
