Hey Ya'll from South Carolina!
Gentlemen,
I am not actually a South Carolina native, I'm a transplant courtesy of the US Army. I have been interested in wet shaving for the past year. My current weapon of choice is a Hoffritz slant loaded with Wilkonson Sword blades, but I am about to move up to straights.
I have aquired three straights in need of restoration, a 6/8 Robeson Sure Edges, an 11/16 H. Boker "Lancet Temper," and a Geneva 11/16. I made my first pair of scales yesterday, not perfect, but I wasn't using expensive wood either. I'm going to make a couple more practice sets before ordering some G10 micarta and buffalo horn.
I am also interested in shaving brushes and after reading the brush making tutorial on the wiki page, want to take a whack at making my own.
I was really excited to find this site. I stumbled across it while looking for information on making scales. It looks like all of the information I need is right here. I look forward to getting to know everyone and sharing my progress.
Best regards,
Old Man Army
