    Default New old fart

    Hello folks,
As the handle implies, it's taken me awhile to discover straight razors. Like it does with most things.
I've had 3 straights lying around for about 30 years and never thought of shaving with them, and wore a short beard for all those years because I couldn't stand the pain of shaving with multiblades or electric shavers.
Then came the eureka moment when I found this site.
Bought a new Dovo and had it and the old ones honed by Maxi.
So here we are. Like the saying goes, live and learn.

    Welcome to SRP GreyBeard!

Yes, you have indeed found the place to learn about straights.

Check out the wiki and the various sub-forums stickies, they are filled with great info.
The links in my sig-line might also be of use to you as you try to learn this traditional way of shaving.

Enjoy your stay here, and do ask away as questions arise.

    Welcome!

What aircraft is that on your avatar photo? The canopy looks kinda like a Spitfire, but it's
    hard to tell for sure.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It is/was a Mk 9 Spitfire called Evelyn that I used to maintain way back in the late '70s. Not sure where/if she lives now.

    Maxi hello Jim.
