Thanked: 0Greetings from Palatine, IL
Greetings!
My name is Sylvester, hailing from a calm suburb of Chi-Town - Palatine, IL.
Just wanted to quickly introduce myself and say many thanks to all contributors to this forums - you helped me a TON!
The guides and wiki's and how to's and faq's and everything - you guys rock! Reading thru everything helped ease my transition from ol'mach3 to straight razor and i am LOVING IT!!!
I am currently using Dovo Shavette with disposable blades (dont hate, budget buy FTW?) but i have just obtained two straight razors in very good shape:
-Wade and Butcher Sheffield England Medium Size Hollow Grind
-Harry L. Weissbaum
They are both in very nice shape, I will post some pics tomorrow - 2AM is not best time to take pictures!
I am hoping to get them to a professional honemeister soon, Anyone know if there is any available locally in Chicago-land? I hate to part with my new babe's!
Anyways, Thanx again!
Sylvester W.

You'll only have to let your babies go for a couple weeks. When they come home....they'll be ready to go.

There's a couple of options. Restored Razor is out of Addison, or maybe Bolingbrook. He's a pro and member here (mbrando). I'm not a pro, but I do hone razors and I'm in Lombard. PM me if interested or want to meet up.

It looks like you got a lot of good advice here and in your perusal. Spend time with a senior member, its amazing what you'll learn. I would also suggest keeping your eyes open for meets in your area.
Welcome

Welcome to SRP Sylvester. Happy to have you aboard.
If you can't find anybody to hone your vintage finds razors in the Chicago metropolitan area, pm me. I know of somebody in the Midwest who can help you get those blades shave ready."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanked: 0Hi again!
So it took me a bit longer than a day to get those pics - severe thunderstorm on Monday morning knocked the power out in whole neighborhood, just got it back! Yay!
Anyways, without further delay, my new babies:

Yeah, those storms were pretty bad! My mom out in Crystal Lake was without power for about 36 hours. Lombard, at least by me, only lost power for 2 minutes, but there were parts that lost it for more than a day. It was some pretty crazy stuff, that's for sure.
Also, those razors are beautiful. I'd be more than happy to hone them up for you, if you needed it!
