Thanked: 1Hello from Saskatchewan
Got my first straight razor shave from a barber about 5 months ago and I was hooked ever since. Been going every two weeks for my shave and about a month ago it was time I took the plunge and shaved myself.
After alot of reading and alot of online shopping I got my starter kit and took the plunge.
First shave went very well and like every newb I shaved more then I should have but it went well. Looking forward to getting it down so I am not barber dependent.
Glad to be part of the community and thanks to all that posted before me for all the knowledge.

Baz, Welcome, and big Congrats! For choosing quality. You already know what a good str8 shave feels like. Soon you'll be able to have it every shave. You sure landed in the right place to learn the old art. I think you'll find the quality of the help and the attitudes are astounding.
Keep us posted with your progress or any issues you encounter.

Welcome to SRP and congrats on your first shaves. They will only get better and you will have the pride and accomplishment of learning an art that your elders knew. Good luck and happy shaving; be sure to ask questions and keep up the good work!

Thanked: 0Hello from Saskatchewan as well!!!
I also live in Regina and I am just getting into shaving with a straight razor. Where did you go to get one here, i cant for the life of me find a barbershop that does them. And also, where did you get your starter set from? I was given a straight razor as a gift, it is old and needs to be re-honed.
Thankyou and keep up the shaving

Thanked: 1I got/get my shaves from the hotel Saskatchewan I think getting a couple of shaves prior really helped me as I understood the process - as far as prep, pressure, angle, and so on so my first shaves were pleasurable with little to no anxiousness.
As far as kit I go with the Italian barber and or fendrihan both are Canadian and have treated me well
Let me know how it goes for you we can get a drink and discuss
