    Smile First timer from Iceland

    Good day Gents
    A warm-lathery greeting from Iceland, and before you start it is NOT only a frozen peace of rock which acts as a the occasional double for Satan’s ***hole ;

My name is Johann ( you English speaking guys please substitute the “J” for “Y” ) It is not pronounced DJOhann.

Pardon my temper, at the time of writing I’m on my 4th coffee cup of the day, and waiting to pick up my first (I hope) really “shave ready” straight. I bought some Chinese or Pakistani crap from a local barber, can’t figure out why he doesn’t sell dovos?

Of course I didn’t just buy one, needed a strop as well and one shave ready as well, plus the seller gave me one of his barber hones J (The user here, and on B&B are more than helpful/nice)
But still I’m not honest, I’ve bought 8 razors, yes I have the RAD. But most of these are cheap (for restoration and later honing practice) And a populist I got að 7/8 W&B chopper from the bay. I blame that on Lynn’s examples from the DVD. There is just something about that curve.
I’ve been DE shaving for about six months now and am loving it, not so much the nicks and cuts, but the whole “hot-towel” wet-shaving experience.

But DE don’t look so good, or as manly as straights, plus the restoration possibilities are quite appealing.

Thanks to all the users, admins and creators of this great forum. It’s a constant source of information and fun stories.

!!! Other beginners, don’t follow my example, go to “straight razor designs” and get your first gear there (as was my original plan )

    Have as nice day

    Yohann

    Welcome!!!
Thanks for the explanation of your location! ( I would really enjoy going there someday!). Have fun and keep that budget in check (so that I can have a chance at more straights!)

    Welcome to SRP Johann.

I have been fortunate enough to visit the Saga Island a couple times and really enjoy the place. Fantastic nature and people

I will never forget my first visit to a pub called something like Gaukör a Stöng (Horrible spelling, I Know)
I was confronted with a bill of 790 Kr for a Corona beer.
I nearly decked the pour guy before I remembered to divide by ten to get the value in my local currency

Anyways, I hope you enjoy your stay here.
Any question, do ask 'em, we'll try our very best to help out.

Yes the nature and people are much more plesant than the price of beer

The "Gaukur a stöng" bar is now know as "Sodoma" so maybe it speaks to the nature of the place (no it has nothing to to with black leather )

Welcome. You did well purchasing your first shave ready. A lot of people make the mistake of purchasing off the bay or a pakistani blade don't mind it, you are on the right path now.
    Enjoy.
