    Default Hello from Chicago

    I have been recently considering buying a straight razor and found this site on a search for information on the topic. It has been helpful in clarifying a number of question that I have had. I am looking to buy a razor off of the classified adds. the razors I have been looking at are called shave ready and I was wondering if razors sold here live up to that expectation. I am also curious if anyone knows someone in the Chicago area who hones blades as I may eventually need this service down the road. Also any suggestions on a cheap strop.

    Welcome Jeremy,
    I also live in the Chicagoland area, Western Subs. Where are you at? I have purchased several of the razors off the classifieds and they al have been shave ready. As for a good strop check the classifieds as well.

    Thanks for the map information. I am located in the Ukrainian village inside of Chicago. Just bought a razor and am currently looking for a strop!

    Hey Jeremy,

    Good deal. I've had mine for a little while now. I have about 9 shaves in now. Ever time I learn something new, either about my face, the blade, or better ways to prep, etc. The learning curve is steep but is very rewarding. Good luck.
