    Wink Hi from the Netherworld!

    Greetings sharp-edged forumwarriors,

    I've been shaving with lawnmowers (Philips, later Braun) from my 16th until my 32nd birthday on which I found a vintage Swing Sweden DE razor and other peripherals that were used with wet shaving during a garage clean-up. Awesome little and forgiving razor that Swing. I use it with great pleasure for several (8) years now and haven't looked back at the electrical stuff. I use the Prorasso cream, pre-cream, and lotions just because the smell of them in the morning takes my day into a good start right away. I sometimes take some Vergulde Hand Soap if I am in a more Dutch nostalgic mood.

    I extended my range with a Merkur 20C this year, just to try something new (which is also a nice razor b.t.w. love the gunmetal on it) but whilst browsing for a new DE razor my interest in straight razors got triggered. I have patience, time and some money to spend on a nice hobby and thoroughly enjoy the "fuzz" of lathering up etc.

    After some careful consideration I've ordered a Dovo "Prima" Silver Steel with some basic things like a strop and a few other pieces that were suggested on these forums and wiki (which is an extremely nice read and startingpoint, well done you guys!);

    I choose the Dovo "Prima" Silver steel mainly because of the sound it is supposed to produce during a shave and not setting me back a few hundred euro's right from the start without even have experienced a straight razor yet. My Swing DE also gives a nice sound (better audible somehow than the Merkur) and I find it a great indicator for my shaving somehow. There is more to shaving than just scraping your face with sharp objects, after-all, eh?

    Hope to recieve the razor next week or so and (carefully) tread into the straight shaving business the coming months. I am looking forward to it.

    Love to see you around on these forums and keep up the good work of making a vibrant community,

    Redbad
