Thanked: 0Lurker de-lurked.
G’day all,
Even though I joined back in July 2010, I’ve been lurking in the background and haven’t actually introduced myself. Please forgive my bad manners.
My name’s Brad and I now suffer from RAD.
Back in 2010 I purchased a crappy Chinese “Rite Edge” razor and disovered this site afterward, so I came here looking for advice on getting it sharpened. Instead I received better advice: ditch the razor and get a proper one.
Because I was travelling at the time (I spent two years in Canada) I decided to wait until I returned home to Australia before spending my hard earned drinking money on my first razor. I’ve been back over a year and I now own two Imperial Razor Co, one McPherson Brother’s, and one Joseph Rogers & sons. However, I’m shaving with a “vintage” disposable blade straight razor (Muster?).
I’ve been using the disposable razor to get a feel for shaving with a single blade before I graduate onto a proper blade. The theory being that the more comfortable and proficient I am with a cheapish throw-away blade, the more comfortable and proficient I will be with a fixed blade. That’s the theory at least.
I’ve only been shaving with it for a few months and expect I’ll continue for a while longer yet, however, I have just sent one of my razors off to Oz (onimaru55) for some tender love and care in preparation for my debut into fixed blades.
I also tend to waffle on, so I’ll sign off now.
Thanks for reading and I hope to be a little more active in these forums from now on.
Regards,
Brad

Glad to have you posting!
Oz will do a great job with your razor, he's a top notch guy.
I also enjoy waffles.

BKratchmer, I noticed your title is "Deliberately Obtuse" but I read that as "Deliberately Obese." I guess I'm the one who's obtuse. Too bad it's not deliberate.
bradlucas, good to see you here.Last edited by markdfhr; 11-10-2011 at 03:14 PM. Reason: Additional greeting.

Welcome!
You'll find that using a real straight is way easier than using the disposable, you'll love it!
