Just found this forum a few days ago and it has been a wealth of knowlege. I have not yet started using an SR myself yet but I have experience with lathers and safty razor use. In the past I used to visit a barber for a straight shave on occasion however that shop no longer exists. I live near a college town and there is now an over abundance of salons due to three cosmetology schools in the area but now the only services offered are cuts and "beard trims". A close friend said he went to another barber that no longer exists that would use shavet blades.

Anyway I came across some of Lynn's videos on YouTube that eventually led me here.

Welcome to SRP. I'm glad you found your way here. You've found what I think is the best community on the internet for straight razor shavers.

There's plenty to read in the wiki. I also like to let people know, in case they did not, that they can use google to search this site while ignoring all others (so you'll zero in more on what you're looking for). At the google search bar simply type

"what I'm interested in" site:straightrazorplace.com

where "what I'm interested in" is the search text you're searching for. Of course you can also use more advanced searching techniques.

Also, in the community section you may notice the link to the google maps. This will let you find members near you who have posted their locations. Also, there is a thread dedicated to group meet-ups.

Have fun reading the wiki and the threads. There's plenty of information and good advice to go around here.

Thank you I am close to Tallahassee. I had pretty much gone over all the Wikis before registering and had already answered many of my questions just by searching current forum threads. SRP has already helped me to discern what not to buy and after much hunting around I think im going to purchase my first SR from Lynn's site. That way I can get a quality new razor with a strop in an affordable set and the razor will truly be shave ready plus a free honing for when that time comes. Definitely glad I found SRP and did not just impulse buy supplies that I would more than likely be disappointed with anyway or an antique razor that would require rehab to use.
