Welcome!!! You have come to the right place. Look at the wiki and check out a bunch of videos here on the site and by some of our members on youtube. Make sure the straight is shave ready before trying. Maybe pick up a shave ready one from the classifieds so that you can have one out for honing while you use the other one. You will also need a strop! Best thing to do is check out the google map feature under the community link to find a member near you so that he can help you out. I am in southeast Michigan if you are not too far in the Buckeye state.

+1 on getting a shave ready razor and strop. If you want all new gear, then it's hard to beat the deals at StraightRazorDesigns, plus the razors come honed by Lynn, you'll learn soon enough who he is. Welcome to SRP and enjoy your stay.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Hello Mdtn:
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. Many of us came to the straight razor via the double edge. Some of us still use the double edge. I do. You are in good company here, and you'll have all the help and encouragement you need. Honing a knife and a razor are two different concepts, but I'm sure you will adjust in no time. We're delighted to have you here. Stay well.
