    Hey everyone,

Just entered the world of shaving with a straight razor. I am in the Army, so I have to maintain a completely shaved appearance at all times. I love shaving though, and have moved first away from the electric given to me by my grandfather, to the disposable, and then to a safety razor. Really looking forward to jumping into this one though, its what I have been working towards. Unfortunately I fell into one of those traps, buying a junk straight razor without doing any research. I seem to have found a good source of knowledge here though, so I will be around to soak it all in. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your responses

Welcome! First off let me thank you for your service. Secondly don't be afraid to ask questions. Third that cheap razor still has a benefit as a practice razor for if/when you start honing, so don't beat yourself up about it.

    Welcome !

The Wiki's on this site are excellent. They'll answer a lot of questions (sometimes in contradictory ways). Start with the beginners' Wiki's and go on from there.

There's a helpful, and knowledgeable, bunch of people here.

Welcome aboard from a fellow service member and OIF vet. There's lots to learn here, but also a huge base of knowledge. Take advantage of it and welcome to your new obsession
