Longtime lurker says hello
Hi folks,
I've been a member here for awhile but have mostly just lurked and bought a razor or two out of the classified section. I've never posted much, if at all.*** I'm active over on B&B under the same name and have enjoyed that site immensely but in the past two years have transitioned almost completely to straights. I'd like to be more active over here for that reason, so I thought I'd introduce myself.
I've been wet shaving since, well, I started shaving. I thank my father for that. At risk of dating myself, I won't tell you how long ago that was, but it was awhile ago. I started experimenting with straight razors about 5 years ago (a DOVO BL as a first razor if you can believe it) and enjoyed it immensely. I would send my razor to Lynn to be honed (and repaired, restored, etc given all the abuse I gave it with my inexperience - thank you Lynn!).
About a year and half ago I bought my first coticule and tried honing, but became frustrated, gave up, sold it, and bought the Feather AC DX. Although I enjoyed the Feather, the shave was a bit harsh. About a year ago I found myself with more time and started honing again, this time with some resolve. Since then I have suffered from severe RAD and HAD and now own quite a few very nice razors and coticules of different veins. This week I purchased my first JNAT, a very nice Ozuku Asagi, which I feel is a major step. I relish this little hobby because it is both luxurious, functional, and artisanal.
Anyway, I look forward to posting here more and learning from the more experienced members that frequent this board.
