    Default Noob from Tulsa

Hi, I'm new to straight razor shaving, though I've always been interested in using a straight. I never knew where to start however. A few months ago I received an old razor from a dead relatives old belongings, that got me started. It was in bad shape, so I researched refurbishing it, and got it all sanded clean and polished up and looking good. Then I researched honing it, and got it fairly sharp, though I know now that it's not really sharp enough for a good shave.

Doing all that reading clued me in to the fact that there were really good vintage razors to be found out there, so I started hitting flea markets and antique stores looking. I even bought two off of Ebay. I've sent two off to be professionally honed, had one back for a month or so and have been using it about every other day, with varying degrees of success. I love the razors though, shaving with then, and have no intentions of ever quitting.

So, I figured it was time to join a good forum for further info and advice. I've read the hell out of everything I have been able to find, and feel like I'm making good progress, but there is definitely a curve that had to be worked though.

I've just received my second Ebay purchase, which makes my fifth razor total, though only one is honed and ready to be used just now. I should get the other back from honing this week, and I'll be sending off the newest one as well. So I'm right on the edge of having a boba fide rotation.

I'd like to find out a bit about this newest blade off Ebay however, but can't seem to find the info online. I reckon this will be a good place to start!

Excellent! Always great to see local guys on a forum like this, even if they're only somewhat local. Thanks for the welcome!
