    Default Hello from Langley BC

Hi everyone, new to the idea of straight razor shaving. Planning on getting a few things from whippeddog soon. A razor and the poor man strop he is selling looks like a good deal to start with (don't have a big budget to start with). The idea of an old technique is very interesting in this world where everything needs to be done quickly, looking forward to enjoying the whole ritual of straight razor shaving. I've always been a bit envious of older generations, they seemed to have it better; if you know what I mean. I've heard co-workers talking about how when they were younger things were better. I am looking forward to participate in one such activity. Not sure how many younger people are active in the forums, but I look forward to joining the ranks of being a Gentleman.

    hey there and welcome!

I'm a mere 22 years old and i'm sure were not the youngest ones here, there seem to be many younger people here hoping to start a tradition of wetshaving.
As to things being better when you were young... I'm sure everyone feels that way when they get to a certain age

Hey man! I'm also a greater vancouver guy. Just like you, I like the idea of the old technique. I bought the poor man strop kit as well. Great price. Right now, I'm in the finding the perfect soap/cream/stick phase. Let us know what you end up getting!

    FWIW --

For Vancouver BC people, there's one retail outlet worth mentioning:

Momentum Grooming -- Burrard St, near the Burrard Bridge -- A modern barbershop specializing in high quality men's hair cuts & straight razor shaves

    Have fun! --

Yea Momentum grooming was the first site I happened across. They are out of my budget right now. Maybe once I get some more funds and have had a straight razor shave. Thanks though

Welcome Smiggly San ! I`m in the Vancouver area , but do return to Japan a lot . If you need some help later on , feel free to ask me any questions . I started with the Whippeddog kit last May ....great way to start and Larry is a fantastic guy to deal with . I have a lot of soaps and creams - so if your curious about any and i have it , your more than welcome to a sample ( no point going bankrupt for this hobby / shave style change !!) .

    Cheers from Japan
