Thread: New guy from KY

My name is Michael, and i am with the U.S. Army currently stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. Home is in Point Pleasant, WV. I am interested in learning to use a straight razor for a few reasons. First just for the nastalgics of it... I like things that are old fasioned! Also, I have heard you get the best shave out of this method.... I use a tripple blade razor right now, and just wiz through it to get it done, but unless I spend 10 mins or so actually caring I dont get a GREAT shave... though I can go 2 days and squeak by without having to shave for the Army! Wondering if a cheap ($25 from Amazon) setup with disposable blades, soap, and brush is ok to atleast learn the basics before jumping to an actual blade and spend the $$ on one with having to sharpen and keep an edge on.... Thanks in advance for any other advice! Oh and the only reason Im goin through Amazon is I have a gift card ballance from Swag Bucks!

Welcome to SRP!
A shavette will shave you they are not the same as a straight though. not sure about the setup you were looking at... soap/cream and a brush will even help your cartridge shaves ... and if you look you can even find items from straight razor designs through amazon.... so there is no reason to avoid quality.
